A Few Words on Cornell

I usually write about physics here, but I felt I had to say something about what has recently been reported at Cornell University.

Reading about the alleged sexual assault and everything that has followed has honestly been disturbing. I don’t know all the details, and I don’t want to pretend that I do. The case is still being investigated, so I won’t speculate about what happened beyond what has been publicly reported.

My thoughts are with the survivor and with everyone who has been affected by this. I also think about people who may read about this and be reminded of things they have experienced themselves.

Sexual violence has no place anywhere. No student should have to feel unsafe at their university or in their own community.

We must stand up against it. We have to listen to survivors, support them, and speak up when something is wrong. We cannot just look away because something happened to people we don’t know.

I hope the investigation is fair, thorough, and transparent, and that everyone affected is treated with the dignity and support they deserve.

About Aronno Mirdha

I am a theoretical physics student working on general relativity and black hole physics. My research builds statistical tools for testing whether independent observations of the same black hole, from gravitational waves to shadow imaging to stellar dynamics, all agree on a single underlying geometry.
