A lot of tests have shown that General Relativity is true, but each test only looks at a small part of the theory. The dynamic behavior of binaries, the quasinormalmode spectra of merger remnants, and the photon-ring geometry of black-hole images have never needed to converge on a single, self-consistent metric description.
